ABOUT Banana pakoras RECIPE

It is a south indian snack which I got to eat in Rameshwaram. There the skin of the raw bananas are very well used to make the pakoras. I have made pakoras both with the skin and the raw bananas. The green part visible in the picture is the skin of the banana.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Raw banana - 2
  2. Besan - 4 tspn
  3. Rice flour - 2-3 tspn
  4. Haldi - 1 tspn
  5. Chilli powder - 1 tspn
  6. Black pepper - 1/2 tspn
  7. Salt
  8. Oil for frying
  9. Orange food color - 1 pinch

Instructions

  1. Remove the skin of the banana sidewise with a knife as we are going to use that also.
  2. Cut the bananas firstly into half and then lengthwise in 4 equal parts.
  3. Put all of them in salt water.
  4. For batter : Add besan, rice flour, haldi, chilli powder, pepper, salt and mix.
  5. Add water such that the batter is neither too thick nor very runny.
  6. Add food color and mix.
  7. Now coat all the banana pieces and skin in the batter and dip fry.
