ABOUT Bature RECIPE

Bature with Chole is a very famous Punjabi dish. Spicy Chole with melt in mouth hot bature is an anytime treat for the palate:)

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Maida ( all purpose flour)- 2 cups
  2. Semolina ( rava)- 2 tbsps
  3. Sugar – 12 tsp
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Baking powder – 12 tsp
  6. Yogurt – 3 tbsps
  7. Water as much required to knead
  8. Oil – 1 tsp + as much required for frying the batura

Instructions

  1. Sieve maida, baking powder and salt together once.
  2. Add sugar , semolina and yogurt and mix well.
  3. Add required amount of water little by little and knead to a stiff dough. Add 1 tsp of oil and knead again.
  4. Cover the dough with a wet kitchen towel and let it rest for 2-3 hrs.
  5. Divide the dough into 8 equal portions. Grease the rolling pin and board with little oil.
  6. Roll the dough into a circle ( or oval shake) of uniform thickness and deep fry.
  7. Deep fry in medium hot oil. Keep pressing the batura so that it puffs up well.
  8. Fry till both the sides turn golden brown.
  9. Serve the bature hot with hot and spicy Chole, onions and lemon wedges:)
