ABOUT Harira (Jaggery Soup) RECIPE

Healthy, delicious and a good remedy for cough and cold. Most importantly, it is very good for lactating women.

Ingredients Serving: 1

  1. 1 glass of water
  2. Small piece of jaggery (2 spoons of grated gur)
  3. Pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  4. 1/4 tablespoon of turmeric powder (haldi)
  5. 1/4 tablespoon ghee
  6. 1/4 tablespoon black pepper
  7. 1/2 tablespoon Posta dana (khas-khas)
  8. 3-4 almonds
  9. 3-4 dry dates (chohara)

Instructions

  1. Cut the almonds and dry dates into small pieces
  2. Heat up the ghee and add hing, posta dana, almonds and dry date pieces
  3. Roast them till golden brown
  4. Add water, jaggery, turmeric powder and black pepper. Boil it for 4-5 min
  5. Serve hot
