ABOUT Sweet Potatoes-Ginger Dessert Soup RECIPE

We relished this dessert during our stay at Tianjin. I was very intrigued by the soupy consistency of this dessert. Sugar used in this dessert gives it a unique taste. I love making this dessert for winters in the UK now. The sharp, warm and the woody flavours imparted by ginger gives this simple soupy 4 ingredients dessert a different dimension.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Sweet potato 1
  2. Cane sugar 1/4 cup or jaggery if you haven't got an access to it
  3. Ginger 1 inch
  4. Water 3 cups

Instructions

  1. Wash and peel the sweet potato. Then chop the sweet potato into chunky roundels.
  2. Add water into a pan. Place the sweet potato roundels in the water and turn the heat on.
  3. Crush the ginger and add it to the water-sweet potato mixture.
  4. Next add in the cane sugar. You may increase or decrease the quantity of sugar as per your choice.
  5. Bring the whole mixture to a boil till the potatoes are softened but not mushy.
  6. Serve it hot.
