ABOUT Sprout Salad RECIPE

A dinner time staple in my house, this is my Mother-in-law's recipe to which I have added a little touch of my own.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Whole green gram sprouts - 1/2 cup
  2. Sweet corn kernels - 1/4 cup
  3. Onion - 1 (small)
  4. Tomato - 1 (small)
  5. Cucumber - 1/2
  6. Roasted ground nuts - 3 tbsp
  7. Sunflower seeds - 2 tsp
  8. Lemon - 1-2
  9. Coriander - a few sprigs
  10. Salt - to taste
  11. Water - 1/4 cup

Instructions

  1. Chop the onions, tomato, cucumber and coriander finely. Then set it aside.
  2. Place the sprouts and sweet corn kernels in a glass bowl, pour in water and microwave it for 2 minutes on a high.
  3. Drain the excess water from the microwaved sprout-sweet corn mix.
  4. In a mixing bowl, add in all the chopped veggies, sprout-sweet corn mix, salt and juice of one or two lemons and toss it well.
  5. Garnish with roasted groundnuts and sunflower seeds.
  6. Serve it immediately else the nuts would lose their crunch.
