ABOUT Sweet Potato/Shakarkand kheer RECIPE

Creamy, tasty sweet potato Kheer, cooked in full cream milk.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 250 grams Sweet potatoes
  2. Half litre milk
  3. 100 grams Sugar
  4. 20 grams maggi coconut powder
  5. Few strands of Saffron
  6. Some chopped pistachios to garnish
  7. 1-2 tsp pure ghee

Instructions

  1. Boil Sweet potatoes half done.
  2. Cool peel and cut round slices.
  3. Heat pure ghee in a clean pan, saute the cut slices of sweet potatoes / shakarkand.
  4. Bring milk to a boil and add sugar to it, stir and mix well.
  5. Add saffron strands.
  6. Stir the milk and slowly add slices of Sweet potatoes.
  7. Cook on slow for about 20 minutes, do not cover.
  8. Stir occasionally to avoid spilling.
  9. Mix maggi coconut powder in 1/2 cup milk and add to the kheer during cooking.
  10. Flavour of coconut will enhance taste, along with saffron too.
  11. Adding coconut powder or milk as choice is optional.
  12. Cool and garnish with pistachio optional serve hot or cold.
