Ever popular sister dish of baghare baingan of Hyderabad Deccan.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Tomatoes 6 to 8 medium sized given 4 cuts
  2. Oil about 4 to 5 tbsp
  3. All the masalas and procedure same as baghare baingan and baghare shimla mirch
  4. Coriander and cumin powder about 1 tbsp
  5. Peanuts and sesame seeds dry roasted and powdered 3 tbsp each
  6. Chilli powder a tbsp
  7. Green chillies slit about 4 to 5
  8. Ginger garlic paste a tbsp
  9. Turmeric about 1/2 tsp
  10. Curry leaves about a fistful and cumin seeds about a tbsp
  11. Onions about 2 to 3 large chopped and shallow fried in 1 tbsp oil and blend it into a fine paste in the wet grinder
  12. Tamarind pulp of a lemon sized ball.
  13. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Similar to baghare baingan and baghare shimla mirch.
  2. Heat oil and add cumin seeds and curry leaves followed by the tomatoes.
  3. Add the green chillies too.
  4. Saute them on low flame for 6 mins stirring just slightly.
  5. Add the onion paste.
  6. Next add all the masalas including the tamarind paste.
  7. Simmer on low flame for the next 20 to 25 mins.
  8. Adjust the consistency as desired. Add water accordingly if needed.
  9. Serve hot with rotis or naan or parathas or even just plain rice

Oh wow. ..I am allergic to brinjal so always felt bad about not being able to relish baghare baingan.. Thanks for this lovely substitute. . And the others too that u have posted.
