ABOUT Bengali Fish Curry RECIPE

A popular fried fish dish cooked with sauce made from mustard seeds and paste.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 4 Fish pieces (preferably rohu)
  2. 1 cup Onions chopped
  3. 1/2 cup water
  4. 4 Green chillies
  5. 4 tbsp Mustard Oil
  6. 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  7. 2 tsp Turmeric powder
  8. 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  9. 1 tsp Red chilli powder
  10. 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  11. 1 tsp Mustard paste
  12. 1 tsp coriander powder
  13. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Wash and clean the fish pieces properly. Rub 1 tsp turmeric powder, salt and lemon juice all over the fish pieces. Leave for 30 mins to marinate.
  2. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a shallow frying pan, fry the fish pieces until slightly brown. Remove from heat and keep aside.
  3. heat the remaining oil in another pan, add mustard seeds and when it crackles, add dry red chilli. Stir for a minute.
  4. Add ginger and garlic paste, mix in the onion. Stir fry till it turns slightly brown.
  5. Mix in the mustard paste, red chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder
  6. Add a bit of water and salt and bring it to boil
  7. Add the fish pieces and cook until fish is done.
  8. Remove from heat and transfer to a serving bowl.
  9. Garnish with green chillies and serve hot.

This recipe sounds really good! I adore how the fish's flavor is greatly enhanced by the addition of mustard oil and spices. I'm eager to give it a try—it's ideal for a warm meal!
