Homemade Hyderabadi Toast is a chatpata chaat like open toast. It's crunchy and delicious.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. For Aloo Toast : Potatoes - 6 (boiled, peeled & grated)
  2. Turmeric - 1/4 tsp
  3. Salt - as per taste
  4. Chaat Masala - 1/4 tsp
  5. Green Chutney - 2 tbsp (mint coriander chutney)
  6. red chutney (garlic chutney)- 1 tbsp
  7. Imli Chutney - 1 tbsp
  8. Coriander - 1/2 tsp
  9. Red Chili Powder - 1/2 tsp
  10. Bread slices - 7 - 8
  11. Maida / Plain Flour - 4 tbsp
  12. Corn Flour - 2 tbsp
  13. Salt - 1/4 tsp
  14. Turmeric - 1/8 tsp
  15. Oil - to deep fry
  16. For Assembling Aloo toast: Prepared Aloo Toast
  17. Red Chutney - 6 tbsp
  18. Green Chutney - 6 tbsp
  19. Onions - 12 tbsp
  20. Coriander Chopped - 6 tbsp
  21. Nylon Sev - 12 tbsp

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix the potatoes with salt, turmeric, red chili powder, coriander powder, red & green chutney.
  2. Put the potato mixture in one side of the bread slices. Heat up oil to deep fry. Or heat the non stick pan for toasting.
  3. In a flat bowl, add the plain flour, corn flour, salt and turmeric. Use water as required to form a batter.
  4. Coat the potato smeared side with plain flour slurry and deep fry both sides until golden and transfer to an absorbent kitchen paper. You may choose to toast these in a tawa with 1 tsp oil. Even i made this toast in tava..have not fried this toast..
  5. To Assemble: In a plate, place the aloo toast and smear green imli and red chutneys. Slice the aloo toast diagonally then sprinkle chopped onions & coriander.
  6. Finally a good layer of Nylon Sev and the Aloo Toast is ready to serve!
  7. So hyderabadi aloo toast chaat is ready. Served hot with green chutney and onion..
  8. Green Chutney : Minty Chutney Ingredients: Mint Leaves - 1 small bunch (150 gm) Coriander Leaves - 1 large OR 2 small bunch Groundnut - 10 to 15 Salt - as per taste Lemon Juice - 1 or 2 Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp Sugar - 1/2 tsp Water as required.
  9. Green chutney Method: Grind all ingredients together to a smooth paste.
  10. Red Chutney: Garlic - 8 tbsp Schezuan sauce - 1/2 tbsp Kashmiri Red Chili powder- 2 tbsp Or red chillies..7 to 8 Salt - to taste
  11. Red chutney Method: In a pan, add in the oil. Once hot, chopped garlic and schezuan sauce goes in. After a minute, add the kashmiri red chilis or red chilli powder .Turn off the flame, let it cool down, blend to a smooth paste using sufficient water.
