ABOUT Bell peppers chutney RECIPE

This is an amazing bell pepper chutney also called as bell pepper thokku Pachadi. A very healthy chutney made with red and green bell peppers,very diffrrent from the regular chutneys. Tastes delicious with hot steamed rice and ghee or have it with any Indian breads. Its also called thokku pachidi as it is coarsely ground and then tempered and sauted .

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. One red bell pepper
  2. two green Capsicum
  3. Small lemon size tamarind
  4. Half cup water
  5. Salt to taste
  6. masala powder :
  7. 1 tbsp Coriander Seeds
  8. 1 tablespoon chana dal
  9. half teaspoon Methi seeds
  10. 6 dry Red Chillies
  11. TO TEMPER :
  12. one teaspoon mustard seeds
  13. A pinch of asafoetida
  14. few curry leaves
  15. 2 tbsp Oil

Instructions

  1. soak the tamarind in the water
  2. wash the capsicum and bell peppers chop roughly and Pulse to grind coarsely
  3. add a teaspoon of oil to a saucepan roast the spices to grind and cool and grind to a fine powder
  4. heat 2 tbsp oil in a saucepan temper with mustard seeds
  5. as its splutters add the curry leaves and asafoetida
  6. now add the coarsely ground capsicum, tamarind paste ,the masala powder, little turmeric and salt
  7. saute the chutney well, cover and cook for around 10 to 15 minutes till it gets a nice good colour stirring in between.
  8. the capsicum chutney is ready to relish with hot steamed rice and ghee
