ABOUT Spicy Gulab Jamun crispies RECIPE

Gulab jamun remains a favorite of every celebration in my home. So the ritual continues but this time they are coated with a tangy chilli- ginger sauce. Perfect party recipe as it tastes really amazing.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 small pack of Instant gulab jamun mix(pack of 20)
  2. 1 tsp lemon rind
  3. 2 tbsp ginger, finely chopped
  4. 1 tsp chopped garlic
  5. 4 fresh red chilies, cross cut
  6. 3 tbsp rice vinegar
  7. 1+1 tbsp sesame oil
  8. 1 tbsp chilli sauce
  9. 1 tsp soya sauce
  10. 1 tbsp Honey
  11. Salt as chilli flakes as required
  12. Oil for Deep frying

Instructions

  1. Empty instant gulab jamun mix in a bowl, add lemon rind.
  2. Make a soft dough using water, make smooth balls.
  3. Deep fry in low-medium hot oil until golden brown. Keep them covered.
  4. Mix 1 tbsp sesame oil, chilly sauce, soya sauce, salt and chilli flakes, whisk it well until everything combines.
  5. Heat up remaining sesame oil in a pan, add chopped ginger-garlic, saute for a few seconds
  6. Add 1/2 cup water and chopped red chillies.
  7. When it starts boiling add prepared sauce mix, let it boil again
  8. Add fried gulabjamuns and simmer until they absorb most of the liquid
  9. Lastly add honey, stir so that gulab jamun gets coated with it and get glazed
  10. Switch off the flame.
  11. It can be served hot, warm or at room temperature as a starter or as side dish.
