Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cups finely grated Bottle gourd/Lauki
  2. 3/4 cup dessicated coconut
  3. 1/3 cup or more sugar adjust
  4. 1/3 cup Milk
  5. 3-4 tbsp Ghee
  6. 3-4 tbsp chopped nuts
  7. 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  8. Green food colouring optional
  9. 1/4 cup desiccated Coconut for rolling optional

Instructions

  1. Heat ghee in deep bottom vessel
  2. Add grated lauki and mix well
  3. Saute Lauki for 3-4 minutes. Add milk and mix well. Cook for 4-5 minutes
  4. Add sugar and mix well. Cook for 4-5 minutes
  5. Add food colouring and mix well. This is optional. This gives beautiful green colour to Laddu
  6. Add cardamom and mix well. Cook until mixture becomes dry
  7. Allow mixture to cool completely
  8. Add nuts to mixture. Add desiccated Coconut 2-3 tbsp at a time and mix well. Do not add 3/4 cup in single go. Add as required
  9. Grease palms and shape mixture into Laddos. Roll over desiccated Coconut, this is optional but it gives beautiful look and additional taste to Ladoos. Serve cold
