ABOUT Thiripagam RECIPE

This is a famous sweet made during diwali in our home town tirunelveli in south india. It is a simple yet delicious sweet made using equal quantity of besan , cashew powder and sugar.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Besan/ chickpea flour 1 cup
  2. Cashew powdered 1 cup
  3. Milk 1 cup
  4. Sugar 2.5 cup
  5. Ghee 3/4 cup
  6. Saffron few strands
  7. Edible camphor a pinch

Instructions

  1. Dry roast besan in pan for few minutes until raw smell goes away.
  2. After it is cooled mix it with milk and sugar to form a lump free batter
  3. In the pan add two tablespoons of ghee and pour this mixture and stir continuously in low flame for sometime .Add ghee at regular intervals. This may take around 15 minutes.
  4. When the mixture turns frothy and starts to leave sides of pan add edible camphor, saffron and powdered cashew to it, mix well and switch off the flame
  5. Delicious thiripagam is ready to be served
