ABOUT Pungulu with leftover idli batter RECIPE

Andra's traditional evening snack which is usually prepared with freshly grinded rice and dhal batter

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cups leftover idli batter
  2. 2 onions finely chopped
  3. 2 green chillies, finely chopped
  4. 1 sprig curry leaves, chopped
  5. 2 tablespoons semolina
  6. 1 teaspoon chopped Ginger
  7. 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
  8. 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
  9. Salt, required
  10. A pinch of baking soda
  11. Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Take leftover idli batter in a wide bowl.
  2. Add all other ingredients mentioned, except oil.
  3. Mix well and set aside
  4. Heat oil in a kadai . Take a spoonful of prepared batter using hands and drop in oil.
  5. Fry until they turn golden brown on both sides
  6. Serve hot with coconut chutney
