Dhokar dalna is a old traditional bengali recipe .its made from lentils and cooked with spices .

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1cup chola or chana daal
  2. 1 cup matar daal
  3. 1pinch of hing
  4. 1 tbsp onion paste( can be omitted)
  5. 1 midium size tomatoes (chopped)
  6. 1tsp ginger paste
  7. 1tsp kolonji or kala jeera seeds
  8. 1bay leaf
  9. 1tsp chilli, turmeric powder and cumin powder
  10. 1cup mustard oil
  11. 1tsp sugar
  12. 1tsp ghee
  13. Salt to taste
  14. 2 green chillies
  15. Garam masala powder

Instructions

  1. Soak the both daal for half an hour minimum and grind it with ginger and gree chilli.keep it aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, add hing and kolonji or jala jeera.put the mixture in it .Add salt and sugar.fry it till the moisture are there.place it in a plate.let it cool and cut it into pieces.
  3. Heat oil for deep frying.fry the pieces.keep it aside.
  4. Heat oil and add hing, bay leaf, kala jeera,Green chillies.
  5. Now add onion paste and fry for sometimes.
  6. Add tomatoes and all the spices now.
  7. Add some water now.
  8. Now add fried dhoka pieces.let it boil for sometimes.
  9. Lastly add ghee and garam masala.and serve it with hot steamed rice.
