ABOUT Muri Ghonto... RECIPE

A traditional Bengali preparation of fish pulao cooked with fish head(ruhi or Katla) & rice.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Fish head...2
  2. Boiled Potato...2
  3. Basmati cooked rice...1cup
  4. Onion...1
  5. Ginger_garlic_green chilli paste...1tspn
  6. Chopped tomato...1
  7. Red chilli powder...1tspn
  8. Turmeric powder...2tspn
  9. Cumin powder...1tspn
  10. Garam masala...1tspn
  11. Star anise...1
  12. Cloves...3
  13. Cinnamon stick...1/2"
  14. Green cardamom...2
  15. Dry red chilli...2
  16. Bay leaves...2
  17. Ghee...2tspn
  18. Salt to taste
  19. Mustard Oil as needed

Instructions

  1. Marinate the fish head with salt, red chilli powder & turmeric powder.Fry it in oil & then take out.
  2. Add bay leaves, dry red chilli, cinnamon stick, green cardamom, star anise in the oil & saute it for a while.
  3. Add chopped onion, tomato& ginger_garlic_green chilli paste.Cook it for few minutes.
  4. Add all spices & mix it well.
  5. Fry some boiled potato.
  6. Add fried potato & 2 cup of hot water.
  7. When it will start to boil, add fried fish head.
  8. Make sure the gravy is ready, then add boiled rice & ghee.Cover it & cook it for another 5 minutes.
  9. It's ready to serve now.
