ABOUT Masala Pav RECIPE

I used to miss masala spicy and Street food in Muscat, specially pav bhaji and masala pav, so tried my hands at Mumbai juhu beach style tawa masala pav. Believe me it was super duper yumm and vanished in lunch only usually bhaji carry forward for next lunch or dinner. Even my little one who doesn't eat spicy and Street food loved it.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 onion finely chopped
  2. 1 Medium size green capsicum finely chopped
  3. 1 cup tomato puree
  4. 1 big boiled potato
  5. 1/2 cup boiled green peas
  6. 1/2 red bell pepper finely chopped
  7. 1/2 yellow bell pepper finely chopped
  8. 1 green chilli finely chopped
  9. 1 tsp Grated ginger
  10. 1 bunch fresh coriander finely chopped
  11. salt to taste
  12. 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  13. 1 tsp cumin powder
  14. 1 tbsp pavbhaji masala
  15. 1 tsp garam masala
  16. 1tsp coriander powder
  17. 2 tbsp oil
  18. 1 tbsp butter
  19. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  20. Pav buns

Instructions

  1. IN 2 TBSP HOT OIL, ADD 1 TSP GRATED GINGER & 1 ONION
  2. ADD 1 GREEN BELL PEPPER, 1/2 YELLOW BELL PEPPER & 1 GREEN CHILLI, COOK FOR 2-3 MINS
  3. ADD 1 BOILED & MASHED POTATO, 1 CUP BOILED GREEN PEAS, MIX
  4. ADD 1 CUP TOMATO PUREE, 1 TSP CUMIN, 1 TBSP PAO BHAJI MASALA & 1 TSP GARAM MASALA AND COOK FOR 5-6 MINS AND TAKE OFF HEAT
  5. ON A HOT TAVA, SAUTE THE THE COOKED BHAJI IN 1 TBSP BUTTER
  6. MASH LIGHTLY, ADD 1 TBSP LEMON JUICE & SIMMER FOR 2 MINS
  7. MIX TAWA BHAJI & PAV TOGETHER, ADD BUTTER ON TOP
  8. GARNISH WITH CORIANDER & RAW ONIONS, SERVE HOT
