ABOUT Matar kachori/green peas kachori RECIPE

This is a yummy benagli style of puri with a filling of green peas to be served with some dal on the side.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Maida- 2 cup
  2. Carom seeds - a pinch
  3. Onion seeds - a pinch
  4. Oil- for frying
  5. Salt- to taste
  6. For stuffing
  7. Peas or Matar- 200 gm
  8. Ginger garlic paste- 1 tsp
  9. Red chillie powder- 1/2 tsp
  10. Cumin seeds- a pinch
  11. Green chilly - 1
  12. Salt - to taste
  13. Oil - 2 tbsp
  14. Asafoetida - a pinch

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a pan
  2. Add cumin seeds and asafoetida to crackle.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and saute for one minute.
  4. Add matar, green chilli, red chillie powder, turmeric powder and saute for 4-5 minutes.
  5. Once cooled, grind to make a paste.
  6. . Add salt and now matar stuffing is ready.
  7. In a bowl, mix maida, salt,2 tbsp oil, carom seeds and onion seeds to make a soft dough using little water at a time.
  8. . Keep aside for 15-20 minutes and knead the dough again.
  9. Divide the dough into equal size balls.
  10. Stuff the matar filling in the dough and roll into balls.
  11. Sprinkle a little flour and roll them with a rolling pin.
  12. In a pan heat the oil and add the kachori in a medium flame and fry till light brown.
  13. Drain extra oil in paper napkin.
  14. Serve hot with aloo bhaaji.
