Its a different and very yummy and crispy evening snack.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. White bread 5 slices
  2. Chopped onions 1/2 cup
  3. Ginger finely chopped 1 inch
  4. Green chilies chopped 1 to 2
  5. Chopped coriander leaves 1/4 cup
  6. Curry leaves 8 to 10
  7. Black pepper crushed 1/2 tablespoon
  8. Cumin seeds 1/4 tablespoon
  9. Turmeric powder 1 pinch
  10. Hing 1 pinch
  11. Fresh curd 1/4 cup
  12. Rice flour 3 tablespoons
  13. Fine sooji or rava 2 tablespoons
  14. Salt as required
  15. Oil for deep frying

Instructions

  1. Take slices of bread and break them. Add in a grinder jar.Pulse or grind to get a texture like bread crumbs.
  2. Take the bread crumbs in a mixing bowl.
  3. Add chopped onions, finely chopped ginger, green chilies (chopped),chopped coriander leaves andcurry leaves (chopped).
  4. Also add black pepper (crushed), cumin seeds and a pinch of Hing.
  5. Now add rice flour, fine sooji or rava,fresh curd and salt as per taste. keep a check on salt as bread already has salt in it.
  6. Mix very well first.Then begin to knead to a smooth dough.
  7. Divide the dough in to small or medium sized balls and then flatten them. keep aside.
  8. Heat oil for deep frying in a kadai. check the oil temperature by dropping a small portion of the batter in the oil. if the small vada comes up steadily and quickly, the oil is hot enough for frying.
  9. Once nicely crisp and golden, then remove the bread vadas with a slotted spoon.
  10. Serve bread vadas hot with tomato ketchup or mint chutney or coriander chutney or with coconut chutney.
