ABOUT Kalwa Fry / Pan Fried Oysters RECIPE

Oysters are super rich in zinc, which is required for strengthening the immune system of your body. Other minerals and vitamins like calcium, iron, mangnesium are also present in oysters. In konkani, we call it kalwa or kalva and they just taste amazing in any recipe. Today I am going to show you the quick and easy way to cook them. This is the Goan(Indian) way to shallow fry these oysters.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Big size oysters- 15-20
  2. Rava/ semolina- 1/2 cup
  3. Rice flour- 2 tbsp
  4. For shallow frying 2-3 tbsp oil
  5. Garam Masala- 1 tsp
  6. Red chili powder- 1 tsp
  7. Haldi/turmeric powder- 1 tsp
  8. Salt- 1 tsp

Instructions

  1. Rinse the oysters 2-3 times, keep them to drain in a strainer or any vessel with small holes so that all the water is thoroughly drained out.
  2. Mix all the masala in a plate along with rava and rice flour.
  3. Heat a skillet, add 2 tbsp of oil . Coat each oyster well with the prepared masala ,rava mix and place on the skillet.
  4. After 3 mins, flip sides and cook uncovered for more 2-3 mins.
  5. Once they look fully cooked( dark browned on both the sides), switch off the stove .
  6. Serve Pan fried Oysters hot with rice and fish curry.
