Ingredients Serving: 4
For Koftas:
250 gms boneless chicken
1 big onion chopped
½ Tsp garlic paste
½ Tsp ginger paste
2 tomatoes pureed
¾ Tsp red chilli powder
¾ tsp Salt
100 gms roasted gram powder
5 drops of lemon
2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves
For the Gravy:
2 to 3 tbsp oil
1 onion finely chopped
1 tbsp finely chopped garlic
1 tbsp finely chopped ginger
3 tbsp tomato sauce
1 tbsp soya sauce
½ Tsp red chilli powder
½ Tsp pepper powder
½ Tsp salt (or to taste)
coriander leaves chopped
Spring onion greens chopped
Instructions
Grind the chicken pieces, onion and coriander leaf into a fine paste.
Remove the paste into a bowl and add all the other ingredients for the kofta and mix well. (The mixture will not be firm but you will be able to make koftas with it.)
Heat 3 cups water in a pan and when it starts boiling, take the kofta mixture, make small balls and drop it into the water.
Cook until most of the water has evaporated and when it starts getting dry, add 2 tbsp oil and stir fry the koftas in the same pan till they are golden brown in colour.
Now to prepare the sauce, heat oil in a pan, add onions, chopped garlic and ginger and saute for some time.
Then add pepper powder, red chilli powder, salt, tomato sauce, soya sauce, coriander leaves and spring onions.
Mix well, cook for a minute and then add 1/4 cup water
Cook for 1 or 2 minutes till the sauce starts thickening.
Add meat balls only when you are ready to serve.
Stir for 2 to 3 minutes and make sure that the sauce completely covers the chicken meat balls (koftas).
Serve hot as a starter or with fried rice or noodles.
