  1. Tur dal (Arhar dal ) - 1 bowl
  2. Bengal gram dal (chana dal) - 1 bowl
  3. Dry red chillies - 6 to 7 (adjust to taste )
  4. Green chilli - 2 finely chopped
  5. Ginger - half inch piece finely chopped

  7. Onion - 2 big ones finely chopped
  8. Rice flour - 2 to 3 tbspn (optional )

Instructions

  1. First wash the dals and soak for 1 to 2 hours. Put the red chillies also with the dals.
  2. Then in a mixer jar coarse grind the dals and red chilli without any water... Just pulse it.
  3. Put the ground mixture in a bowl...
  4. Add the chopped onions, green chilli and curry leaves
  5. Add salt, mix well.... If you wish you can add the rice flour... I didn't add.
  6. Now make small balls and press gently with your hands... to make thin vadas... It should not be very thick or else it wont cook properly...
  7. Put oil in a kadai and heat it...when hot put the vadas slowly and deep fry them well on low to medium flame till nice and crisp from both sides...
  8. Serve hot with tea... Enjoy parippu vadas
