ABOUT Hung Curd Stuffed Millet and Spinach Bonda ( kids recipe) RECIPE

Millet, not very favorite among kids do provide calcium and vitamin D with Copper, manganese, phosphorus and magnesium. Here I have made bonda using hulled millet with spinach and stuffed it with hung curd.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Organic hulled Millet 1/2 cup
  2. Spinach chopped 2 cups
  3. Curd 500 grms
  4. Onion 1
  5. Garlic crushed 1 tsp
  6. Ginger grated 1 tsp
  7. Besan 1 tsp (heaped)
  8. Corn flour 2 tsp
  9. Salt, chilli to taste
  10. Turmeric 1/2 tsp
  11. Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  12. Zeera powder 1/2 tsp
  13. Grated carrot 2 tsp
  14. Dried black current 15 no.
  15. Cashew blanched and chopped 8 no.
  16. Coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tsp
  17. Oil 2 tsp
  18. Oil for deep frying.

Instructions

  1. Tie curd in muslin cloth and hang to drain water. After 1 hr keep in strainer and keep in fridge.
  2. Pressure cook millet by adding double quantity water (5 to 6 whistles). Let it cool.
  3. Chop the spinach, squeeze out water, keep aside.
  4. Chop onions, saute in 1 tsp oil. Add 1 tsp garlic. Keep aside to cool.
  5. Now mix spinach and cooled millet. Add salt, turmeric, chilli powder, 1 tsp garlic, ginger and garam masala.
  6. Mix well. Add gram flour. Make balls of required size for deep frying.
  7. Take out hung curd, add grated carrot, sauteed onion mixture.
  8. Add dried black current, cashew and chopped coriander leaves.
  9. Add salt, zeera powder. Make balls to Stuff.
  10. Make corn flour slurry.
  11. Heat oil in a pan. Grease your palm. Take one millet ball, spread in your palm and make katori shape.
  12. Stuff hung curd mixture, close the ball.
  13. Now dip in cornflour slurry and deep fry till golden brown.
  14. Serve this healthy Bonda to your kids with tomato ketchup.
  15. You can make vada paav or sandwich also.
