Fish kebab or fish cutlets was very common starter my mom use to make.. which was loved by all.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 500 gms Boneless Kingfish
  2. 1 cup milk
  3. 3 medium boiled Potatoes
  4. 3 medium boiled Potatoes
  5. 3 fresh red chilies
  6. 1 finely chopped onion
  7. 1/2 cup chopped coriander leaves
  8. 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  9. 1/2 tsp Cumin powder
  10. 2 tbsp lemon juice
  11. 2 tbsp Oil
  12. 1/4 tsp crushed black pepper
  13. Salt to taste
  14. 1 egg
  15. 1/4 cup cornflour
  16. 1/2 breadcrumbs
  17. Oil for shallow frying

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan put fish pieces and add enough milk, so it can cook fish. I have put a cup of milk. Cook for 5 minutes or until fish is cooked.
  2. In a bowl flake the boiled fish, discard the skin and any any bones present, Grate the boiled potatoes and mix well.
  3. In a pan add 1 tbsp oil add chopped onion and crushed garlic, let it sweat for a minute add red chili powder, cumin powder and salt and cook for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Add the onion, red chili powder, cumin powder, crushed black pepper to mashed potato and fish mixture, mix well. Add chopped red chilies, juice of lemon and chopped coriander leaves. Mix well , taste and adjust the seasoning if required.
  5. Crack a egg in a bowl and in one plate keep cornflour and another plate breadcrumbs. Divide the fish mix into 8 parts. Take pattis coat with cornflour then dunk in egg then coat it with bread crumbs.
  6. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Gently put the fish pattis in the pan and Cook for 4 minutes each side or until golden brown. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towel.
  7. Serve hot with good squeeze of lime and fresh salad on side.

I missed making Surmai kebabs as I was too engrossed with my Prawns. This ones my favourite too
