Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Bread Slices - 8
  2. Gulab Jamuns - 8 (readymade pieces)
  3. Sugar - 1/2 cup
  4. Milk - 1 glass
  5. Ghee - 1 cup
  6. Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
  7. Cashewnuts - a handful
  8. Almonds - a handful
  9. Raisins - a handful

Instructions

  1. Take bread pieces, cut the sides and discard it. Cut the bread into small pieces (not very small).
  2. Heat ghee in a pan, fry bread pieces till golden brown. Keep aside after shallow frying.
  3. In the same pan, heat little more ghee, fry Cashewnuts, Almonds and raisins. Keep aside.
  4. Drain the gulab Jamuns from the liquid. Keep aside.
  5. Cut gulab Jamuns into 6 pieces.
  6. Now in the same pan, add the bread pieces, a glass of milk, sugar and let it simmer on a medium flame.
  7. You will see that all bread pieces are soaked up and become soft and soggy. Keep stirring so that it does not stick to the pan. After some time it will start leaving the pan.
  8. Now add ghee to it and keep stirring till all the liquid dries up and bread Halwa is fried well and a beautiful golden color has emerged.
  9. Now add Cardamom powder, fried dry fruits. Mix well. When ghee leaves the sides of the Halwa then its ready.
  10. Next grease the bowl where Halwa will be kept.
  11. Mix Halwa and gulab Jamun pieces. Transfer to a bowl and press down into a smooth layer. Keep aside for 5 minutes.
  12. Cut into thick squares and serve warm.
  13. It is a great winter indulgence. This is loved by all.
