ABOUT Baked Samosa With Whole Wheat Flour RECIPE

Baked whole grain samosas for guilt-free indulgence. If you love samosas, but haven't had this delicious treat for some time, try this baked samosa recipe once. On top of it, I have substituted white flour with whole grains. Any takers?

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 1 cup Wheat Flour
  2. 1/4 cup besan (chickpea/gram flour)
  3. 1/2 cup suji
  4. 1/2 tsp baking soda
  5. 2 tsp hot oil
  6. 1 tsp Carom seeds (Ajwain)
  7. salt as per taste
  8. 1/4-1/2 cup lukewarm water for kneading dough
  9. Filling Ingredients - 2 boiled potatoes
  10. 1 Onion
  11. 1 tsp- ginger garlic paste
  12. Handful of peas
  13. coriander powder
  14. 1 tsp- cumin seeds (jeera)
  15. 1 handful coriander leaves
  16. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Gather whole wheat flour, chickpea flour, semolina, salt, carom seeds, and baking soda. Mix everything well.
  2. Add oil and mix with hands until oil combines with the flours.
  3. Add lukewarm water little by little to make a smooth dough - neither too soft, nor too hard. Keep aside covered in a muslin cloth for half an hour.
  4. to prepare filling. Take oil in a pan. Throw in ginger garlic paste. Add chopped onions and salt.
  5. Mix well. Now add boiled potatoes and peas. Throw in coriander powder and cumin seeds. Your filling is ready.
  6. Preheat oven (microwave convection) at 180 degrees for 10 minutes.
  7. Knead the dough again and make lemon-sized balls.
  8. Roll out each ball into a thin roti and cut it in the middle to divide it into two halves.
  9. Take one half and connect two opposite ends. Add the filling and close the opening. Follow the same procedure with the rest of the dough.
  10. Place each samosa on a greased tray and bake for 12-15 minutes at 180 degrees.
  11. Check the lower side of the samosa. If it looks unbaked, switch side and bake for 10 minutes.
  12. Enjoy guilt-free samosas with condiment or chutney of your choice.
