ABOUT Cabbage and Peas RECIPE

Winter vegetables- cabbage , green peas and new potatoes. A medley of simple flavours.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 medium sized cabbage finely sliced
  2. 1 large onion finely sliced
  3. 1 tomato finely sliced
  4. 3 green chillies finely chopped
  5. 6 garlic cloves finely chopped
  6. 2 new potatoes diced
  7. 1/2 Cup Green Peas
  8. 1 teaspoon ginger paste
  9. 1/2 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  10. 1/2 teaspoon jeera powder
  11. 1/2 Teaspoon Sugar
  12. Salt to taste
  13. 2 green cardamom pods
  14. 2 cloves
  15. 1 small piece of cinnamon
  16. 1/4 teaspoon jeera or panch phoron for tempering
  17. 1 teaspoon ghee
  18. 1 teaspoon mustard oil

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil and ghee in a deep pan.
  2. Add the jeera, cardamom , cloves , cinnamon
  3. Put in all the vegetables , cabbage, onion, garlic , tomato , potato , green peas. Mix well.
  4. After two minutes add salt , sugar , jeera powder , ginger paste , turmeric powder and mix well.
  5. Cover and cook on very low heat till done. Stir occasionally. Do not add water.
  6. When all the water has dried and the cabbage is cooked , turn off the heat .
  7. Serve hot with rice or roti.
