ABOUT Kathal ke kebabs RECIPE

When you want to give a miss to non veg and yet want to enjoy the kebabs not compromising on the taste, these kebabs are the best.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 500 gms raw jackfruit
  2. 1/4 cup chana dal
  3. 1 tbsp roasted oats (optional)
  4. 1 tsp black pepper
  5. 3 black cardamom
  6. 4 green cardamom
  7. 1 onion, chopped
  8. 1 tbsp Coriander leaves, chopped
  9. 1/2 tsp chilli flakes/powder
  10. 1 tbsp lemon juice
  11. 2 tbsp ginger, chopped
  12. Salt to taste
  13. 3 tbsp oil or as required

Instructions

  1. Remove the skin of the jackfruit, make peices
  2. In a pressure cooker put jackfruit pieces, chana dal, peppercorn, black and green cardamom, ginger and salt
  3. Add 1/2 cup water and pressure cook for 3 whistles
  4. When cool, in a mixure jar grind 1st batch by putting all spices that we pressure cooked first along with few jackfruit pieces, making sure that all spices has ground fine
  5. Grind rest of the jackfruit little coarse, do not make fine paste
  6. Mix both fine and coarse paste, add chopped onion, coriander leaves, lemon juice, chilli flakes.
  7. If you are adding oats, crush roasted oats and add it now. This will give better binding and add healthy fiber to the kebabs
  8. Shape them as desired
  9. Keep them in refrigerator for 20 minutes before frying if yoy have time otherwise heat up very little oil in a non stick pan
  10. Fry the kebabs on medium flame until golden brown
  11. Its ready to serve
  12. Its a great tiffin snack if u fill it inside a mini multigrain bun. Enjoy!
