ABOUT Tomato Rice balls. RECIPE

Tomato Puree is being added to rice flour. They are steamed and than seasoned to give an appetizing Savory breakfast or snacks with tea or coffee.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Tomatoes 3 ( puree 1 1/2 cup)
  2. Rice flour 1 cup.
  3. Zeera crushed between palms 1 tsp
  4. Ginger finely grated 1 tsp
  5. Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  6. Oil 1 tbsp
  7. Salt to taste.
  8. For seasoning
  9. Oil 2 tsp
  10. Asafoetida a pinch
  11. mustard seeds 1/2 tsp
  12. Urad daal 1/2 tsp
  13. Green chilli 1 or 2 ( according to taste)
  14. Peanuts 1 tbsp
  15. Coconut grated 1 tbsp
  16. Curry leaves few. ( 4 to 5)
  17. Red chilli powder 1/2 tsp
  18. Coriander powder 1 tsp
  19. Coriander leaves finely chopped to garnish.
  20. Sesame seeds roasted 1 tsp
  21. Aamchur powder a pinch.

Instructions

  1. Blanch tomatoes and make puree without adding much water.
  2. Take Rice flour in a bowl to knead.
  3. Add zeera rubbing between palms.
  4. Add finely added ginger.
  5. Add salt and pepper. Add oil.
  6. Heat water in steamer .
  7. Add tomato puree ( still warm) to rice flour and knead dough like for roti.
  8. Grease your palm, make balls ( marble size).
  9. Steam for 15 to 18 minutes . ( Use slotted plate or bowl like we use for momos)
  10. Steam on medium high heat.
  11. Check and remove after 15 minutes.
  12. Heat oil in a pan. Add asafetida, mustard seeds. Add green chillies, curry patta. Add urad daal.
  13. Fry for half minute. Add ground nuts.
  14. Now add steamed tomato rice balls. Fry on medium heat.
  15. Add chilli powder to taste, Add coriander powder.
  16. Add sesame seeds .
  17. Add coconut and chat masala.
  18. And here is your appetizing tomato balls.
