This goes well with white rice and rotis.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Button mushroom – 250 gms
  2. onion – 2 medium
  3. tomato – 2 Mediumx`
  4. ginger Garlic paste – 1 Tspoon
  5. turmeric powder – 1/4 Tspoon
  6. chilli Powder – 2 Tspoon (adjust as per your taste)
  7. coriander Powder – 1 Tspoon
  8. Garam masala – 1/2 Tspoon (Optional)
  9. bay leaf – 1
  10. cloves – 2
  11. fennel seeds – 1 Tspoon
  12. salt – to taste
  13. oil – 2 Tbspoon
  14. coriander Leaves – For Garnish


  1. First wash the mushrooms well in running, remove the stems and cut into small pieces
  2. Cut Onion, Tomato into small pieces and keep aside.
  3. In a vessel add oil. Once the oil is hot add Bay leaves, Cloves and fennel seeds and saute for 20 sec.
  4. Add onions and saute well for a min. Add ginger garlic paste and saute both together for 5 mins until the onion changes to brown color.
  5. Add Tomatoes, salt, turmeric,chilli powder, coriander powder and garam masala and saute for 2 mins.
  6. Close the lid and cook the gravy for 2 mins.
  7. Add finely chopped mushrooms and mix well until the gravy is coated well to mushrooms.
  8. close lid and cook it in medium flame for 5 mins.
  9. Remove the lid and cook open until Water oozed from mushrooms is reduced.
  10. Once the mushroom is cooked well, switch off the flame and garnish with coriander.
  11. Serve hot with rice or roti.
