ABOUT Puliyodharai RECIPE

Otherwise called tamrind rice tastes awesome with dry red chilli ,peanuts and cashewnuts.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Ingredients
  2. 90% cooked rice 2 1/ 4 cup
  3. 1/2 ,cup gingely oil
  4. 1/4 cup tamrind extract
  5. 1 tesp turmeric powder
  6. salt as per taste
  7. Seasoning
  8. 1 tesp mustard seed
  9. 1 tesp chana dal
  10. 1/2 tesp asafoetida
  11. few curry leaves
  12. Few cashew pieces
  13. 1 tesp jaggery
  14. 1/2 cup roasted peanuts
  15. 6 dry red chilli slit
  16. Spice powder
  17. 3 tesp coriander seeds
  18. 1 tesp fenugreek seeds
  19. 8 dry red chilli
  20. 2 tesp white sesame seeds
  21. 1 tesp whole black pepper

Instructions

  1. Dry roast the spice powder ingredients each seperately
  2. Let cool grind to a coarse powder
  3. Spread the cooked rice on a plate and mix 1 tbsp oil ,so that the cooked rice is fluffy and not mushy
  4. Place a pan on low flame
  5. Add oil once it's hot add the the seasoning ingredients mustard,dal,cashew,chilli, asafoetida,curry leaf .
  6. Add the tamarind extract,salt ,turmeric powder,mix well
  7. Let simmer till a little thick
  8. Add peanut ,jaggery,and the ground powder.Mix well.Remove from flame.
  9. Now add the cooled rice and mix well
  10. Puliyodharai is ready,to serve
