ABOUT Keema Methi RECIPE

Serve this yummy methi saag with some mutton mince for a great Eid dinner for family and friends. This is a great way to flavour your everyday greens. It goes very well either with rice or chapattis.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. 200 gms mutton minced, washed & drained
  2. 2-3 bunches fenugreek leaves, washed, drained & chopped
  3. 1 tsp. Garlic, chopped
  4. 3 tbsp. boiled black chickpeas
  5. 3 tbsp. Mustard Oil
  6. 2 dry red chilies
  7. 2 Bay Leaves
  8. 1" cinnamon stick
  9. 2-3 small cardamoms
  10. 4-5 cloves
  11. 1 tsp. cumin seeds
  12. 1 Onion, chopped
  13. 1 tsp. Ginger-Garlic paste
  14. 1 tsp. tomato paste
  15. 1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
  16. Salt to taste
  17. 1 tbsp. Red Chili powder
  18. 1 tsp. coriander-cumin powder
  19. 1 tsp. Garam masala powder
  20. 1 tsp. ghee

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tbsp. oil & saute the chopped garlic till light brown in colour. Add the chopped fenugreek leaves and saute till the moisture evaporates. Keep aside.
  2. Heat remaining oil and temper with bay leaves, red chilies, cumin seeds, cinnamon, cardamoms and cloves. Saute for a few seconds.
  3. Add the onion and saute till light brown.
  4. Add the ginger-garlic paste, tomato paste & all the dry spices mixed with some water. Stir fry till the oil separates.
  5. Add the mince & mix everything well. Cover & cook till dry.
  6. Add 1/2 cup water. Cover & simmer on a low flame till done.
  7. Add the boiled chickpeas & sauteed fenugreek leaves. Combine everything well & stir fry for 2-3 min. Add ghee & give it a toss.
  8. Serve as a main / side dish with rice or chapatis.
