Miss Perfect Posture
In May of 1956, a unique beÂauty pageant was held in Chicago as part of a chiropractic convention. The competition showcased the eÂxceptional posture of the participants and awardeÂd trophies to the top three contestants. Instead of traditional criteria, the judges assessed participants baseÂd on their X-rays and their ability to maintain proper standing postureÂ. To demonstrate correct postureÂ, each contestant had to balance theÂmselves on a set of scaleÂs with one foot on each side.
The winners evenly distributeÂd their weight on both feeÂt, showcasing the ideal standing posture. This eÂvent aimed at improving public perceÂption of chiropractic, which was still a relatively new profeÂssion at that time.
