ABOUT Instant Dhokla RECIPE

Dhokla is a very famous Gujrati dish. It is traditionally steam cooked. In my recipe, I have used microwave instead of steam cooking which reduces a lot of hassle and cuts down the cooking time. This recipe is very healthy as we hardly use 2-3 teaspoons of oil.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 1 cup Gram flour
  2. 1/4 cup samolina
  3. 3/4 tsp salt
  4. 1 tsp sugar
  5. Pinch of turmeric powder
  6. 1 tsp ENO fruit salt
  7. 1 tsp grated ginger
  8. water as required
  9. 2 tbsp lemon juice
  10. For tempering-
  11. 1 tvsp oil
  12. 1 tsp mustard seeds
  13. 1 tsp sugar
  14. 4-5 green chillies
  15. 3/4 cup water
  16. Few curry leaves

Instructions

  1. IN A BOWL ADD- 1 CUP GRAM FLOUR, 1/4 CUP SAMOLINA, 3/4 TSP SALT
  2. PINCH OF TURMERIC POWDER, 1 TSP SUGAR, 1 TSP GRATED GINGER
  3. 2 TBSP LEMON JUICE AND WATER TO PREPARE A THICK BATTER
  4. COVER AND KEEP ASIDE FOR 15-20 MINUTES.
  5. GREASE YOUR BAKING DISH.
  6. ADD 1 TSP ENO FRUIT SALT, 2 TBSP WATER AND MIX WELL.
  7. TRANSFER IT IN THE GREASED DISH
  8. COVER WITH THE CLING WRAP OR LID AND COOK ON HIGH POWER FOR 4 MINUTES
  9. SPONGY DHOKLA IS READY, LET IT COOL.
  10. FOR TEMPERING- HEAT 1 TBSP OIL, ADD 1 TSP MUSTARD SEEDS & FEW CURRY LEAVES
  11. ADD 3-4 SLICED GREEN CHILLIES, 1 TSP SUGAR, 3/4 CUP OF WATER, BOIL AND LET IT COOL
  12. TRANSFER THE DHOKLA ON SERVING PLATE
  13. CUT INTO PIECES AND POUR THE TEMPERED SYRUP, OVER THE DHOKLA
  14. GARNISH WITH FRESH COCONUT AND CORIANDER LEAVES.
