The interesting part for me was that it was easy and took less time to make. Got all the prep work done and made the dessert. It took a while for the mixture to thicken up and I was on the phone messaging my friend to make sure I was doing it right. It thickened eventually and is a total milk lover’s delight. It was rich, smooth and tasted great.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1/4 cup Basmati rice
  2. 4 cups + 1 tbsp Milk
  3. 3/4 cup sugar
  4. 1 Cardamom(remove seed and powder)
  5. A few almonds
  6. A few pista
  7. A pinch of saffron


  1. Soak the rice for 30 mins and the nuts in hot water for an hour. Peel off the skin from nuts and chop. Soak saffron in 1 tbsp of warm milk.
  2. Add rice, 2 tbsp of water and blend until you get a smooth paste.
  3. Bring 4 cups of milk to boil and add the rice paste. Stir well
  4. Add sugar, keep stirring until the mixture thickens to a custard like consistency.
  5. Add saffron milk and cardamom powder and turn off the stove.
  6. Garnish with chopped nuts and serve.
