ABOUT Sookhi Dhuli Urad Daal RECIPE

Dhuli hui urad ,North Indian rage,especially punjabi cuisine cannot be complete without dry urad dal.Tadka of red whole chillies ,cummin, ginger jullienes to garnish.Well soaked ,cooks in minutes with or without pressure cooking .Minimum of spices tastes great with chapaatis .Its a sure once a week preparation in any punjabi household.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 100 grams safed/,dhuli urad daal
  2. 20 grams ginger
  3. Salt to taste
  4. 1 tspn red chilli powder
  5. 3-4 Whole red chillies
  6. 1 tspn Cummin
  7. 1tblspn ghee

Instructions

  1. Wash dhuli urad and soak 6-8 hours (overnite also ok)
  2. Heat ghee in pressure cooker
  3. Add cummin seeds, and ginger cut long whole chillies as they splutter
  4. Add the soaked urad daal
  5. Add salt to taste,some salt ,dhaniya powder and red chilli powder too
  6. Mix well,add half a cup water
  7. Pressure cook 3 whistles or say 5-7minutes
  8. Removed in bowl garnished with some more of the ginger cut julliene
  9. Ready to serve
