ABOUT SHAHI PANEER RECIPE

A delicious recipe of a paneer curry to be served with naan or roti.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Paneer / cottage cheese cubes - 250 gms
  2. Onion - 2 medium size
  3. Melon seeds - 1 tbsp
  4. Poppy seeds - 1 tbsp
  5. Tomato puree - 1/2 cup
  6. Red chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
  7. Green cardamom - 5
  8. Cinnamon - 1 inch stick
  9. Mace / javitri - 1 piece
  10. White pepper - 1/4 tsp
  11. Whole dried milk / mawa - 1 tbsp
  12. Cream - 1 tbsp
  13. Cumin seeds - 1/4 tsp
  14. Milk - 1/4 tsp
  15. Sugar - a pinch
  16. Salt - to taste
  17. Oil - 2 tbsp
  18. Finely chopped coriander leaves - 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. In a blender add poppy seeds,melon seeds,chopped onion,cinnamon,cardamom,mace /javitri,cumin seeds,white pepper and one tbsp water to make a fine paste.
  2. Heat oil in a pan.
  3. Add this paste and saute till oil seperate from pan.
  4. Add mawa /whole dried milk and saute for 2 - 3 mins.
  5. Add milk little by little in a pan.
  6. Add tomato puree and stir fry in a medium flame to make a thick gravy.
  7. Add sugar,salt and cottage cheese /paneer cubes and mix well.
  8. Garnish with cream and coriander leaves
