ABOUT Morula Maacher Bora (Small Fish (Mola Carplet) Pakora / Fritters - Bengali Style RECIPE

Some yummy fish pakoras to be relished as a side dish or as snacks / appetizers with any chutney of your choice.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1 cup morula mach (Mola Carplet - Fresh River Water Fish)
  2. 1/2 cup masoor dal (red lentils) soaked for 3-4 hours
  3. 2 tbsp. rice flour
  4. 1 small onion, chopped
  5. 1-2 green chilies, chopped
  6. 1 tsp. ginger-garlic, grated
  7. handful of coriander leaves, chopped
  8. salt to taste
  9. 1/4 tsp. turmeric powder
  10. 1 tsp. roasted cumin powder
  11. 1 tsp. nigella seeds (kalonji)
  12. 1/2 tsp. red chili flakes
  13. 1/4 tsp. pepper powder
  14. 1 tsp. mustard oil
  15. oil to deep fry

Instructions

  1. Marinate the fish with a pinch of salt and turmeric powder for 10 minutes. Grind the masoor dal with very less water and mix along with all the above mentioned ingredients (except oil).
  2. Heat oil and drop spoonfuls of the mix into it and fry on a medium flame till golden in colour. Drain on a kitchen towel and serve as an appetizer with any chutney or kasundi (mustard sauce)
