ABOUT Mutton Curry RECIPE

Easy to make flavourful East Indian style Mutton Curry .This curry can be made quickly within 15 minutes in pressure cooker .

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. MUTTON 500 GM
  2. Kashmiri Chillies 8 to 10
  3. Coriander seeds 1 Tablespoon
  4. Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  5. Sesame seeds 1 teaspoon
  6. Poppy seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  7. Cardamom 3 - 4
  8. Cinnamon 1 inch
  9. Cloves 4 - 5
  10. Black pepper 7 -8
  11. Onions 2
  12. Desiccated coconut 1/2 cup
  13. Oil 2 tablespoon
  14. tomatoes 2
  15. Salt
  16. Ginger 1 inch
  17. Garlic cloves 6 -7
  18. Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  19. 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder/meat/bottle masala
  20. Bay leaves 2
  21. Sprig of curry leaves
  22. Potatoes 2
  23. Oil 2 tablespoon

Instructions

  1. Wash the mutton well ,drain and keep aside
  2. Apply salt and turmeric powder and set aside for 10 minutes
  3. Meanwhile dry roast the kashmiri chillies,coriander seeds cumin seeds along with the whole spices till nice aroma comes.
  4. Remove and keep aside
  5. Dry roast yhe coconut till light brown and keep aside .
  6. Add I teaspoon oil and add roughly sliced onions and roast till light brown.
  7. Grind the roasted onions coconut and the chillies with spices with one tomato
  8. Add little water and grind to a smooth paste.
  9. Heat the pressure cooker vessel as oil.
  10. Once oil is hot add curry leaves and bay leaves.
  11. Add one chopped tomato and saute till it turns soft and mushy.
  12. Add the ground masala paste and saute till oil separates.
  13. Add the marinated mutton ans saute for few minutes.
  14. Add chilli powder/meat/bottle masala
  15. Add potato and adjust salt
  16. Add about 2 -2 1/2 cup water,Add more or less water according to the gravy consistency needed.
  17. Cook for 2 whistles or for 12 to 14 minutes
  18. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve with rice /pulao/dosa or Appam .
