ABOUT Rice Papad (Chawal Ke Papad) RECIPE

My Nani's recipe which reminds me my childhood.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rice - 1 Cup
  2. Nigella Seed ( Kalonji) - 1/2 teaspoon
  3. Baking Soda - 1 pinch
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Water - 4 Cups

Instructions

  1. Soak rice for 1/2 an hour.
  2. In a deep pot add rice, nigella seeds, salt, a pinch of baking soda and water.
  3. Cook till rice becomes soft, mushy and pouring consistency. (you can use a masher) Switch off the flame and cover the pot.
  4. Take a square cloth, make a small whole in the middle of the cloth and put batter in it.
  5. Fold the cloth and make papads like jalebi on a dry cloth. Dry under sunlight for 2 - 3 days.
  6. When the papads dry they won't stick to the cloth. Heat oil in a pan and fry in hot oil.
  7. Serve with tea.
