ABOUT Ragi Ambali / Summer cooler RECIPE

Ragi Ambali is a traditional summer drink from Karnataka. Ragi is gluten free source of protein which helps weight loss and nutritious thirst quencher as well. This nutritious drink reduces body heat during scorching summers. Recipe credit Preethi cuisine , I have made few changes according to my taste buds.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Ragi flour 1 cup
  2. Water 2 cups (250 milliliter) + 1 1/2 tablespoon
  3. Curd 1/2 cup small
  4. Salt to taste
  5. Roasted cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon
  6. Mint leaves 1 tablespoon finely chopped
  7. Coriander leaves 1 tablespoon
  8. Asafoetida(hing) a pinch

Instructions

  1. Boil 2 cups water in a wide bottom pan
  2. Add 2 tablespoon warm water to the ragi flour and make smooth paste without any lumps .
  3. Add this paste to the boiling water and keep stirring so that there are no lumps.
  4. keep it on medium flame for 2 minutes and switch off the stove .
  5. Allow this mixture to cool.
  6. Meanwhile whisk curd..add 1 cup water to curd and blend well.
  7. Once ragi mixture reaches room temperature, mix blended curd, salt, jeera powder, asafoetida. Garnish with mint leaves, cumin seeds, coriander leaves and serve
