ABOUT Moong dal halwa RECIPE

Moong Dal Halwa is a delicacy of the state of Rajasthan. It is a rich, creamy and pudding-like dessert. Made with split yellow moong dal, this is a popular and delicious dessert for the winter months.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 100 gm Mung Dal (without skin)(ground)
  2. 75 gm Desi Ghee
  3. 75 gm sugar
  4. 1 cup milk
  5. ½ cup water
  6. 8-10 Almonds finely chopped
  7. ĵ tsp cardamom powder

Instructions

  1. Wash dal thoroughly and soak in 3 cups of water for at least 4 hours.
  2. Drain the water and blend dal into a thick paste, adding just enough water as needed to blend.
  3. Heat ghee in a pan and add mung dal paste in it.
  4. Roast it in ghee till it is color change to light brown.
  5. Boil milk and water. Then add boiled milk – water and sugar. Stir well.
  6. Cook till it becomes dry and ghee is separated.
  7. Then add cardamom powder and stir well.
  8. Garnish with almonds .

what if v use dry grounded dal instead of first soaking and then grinding?

how long it takes to change the color while we roast the mung dal paste in ghee?
