ABOUT Mustard Fish- my style RECIPE

A fish curry cooked with aromatic mustard seeds and paste.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 6 Fish pieces
  2. 1 1/2cup Onions chopped
  3. 3/4 cup water
  4. 4 Green chillies
  5. 5-6 tbsp Mustard Oil
  6. 1 tbsp Lemon juice
  7. 2 tsp Turmeric powder
  8. 1 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
  9. 1 1/2 tsp Red chilli powder
  10. 1 1/2 tsp Mustard paste
  11. 1 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  12. 1 tsp Coriander powder
  13. Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Clean the fish pieces properly. Mix a tsp of turmeric powder, salt and lemon juice in a small bowl.
  2. Rub all over the fish pieces. Leave for 30 mins to marinate.
  3. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a shallow frying pan, fry the fish pieces until slightly brown. Remove and keep aside.
  4. Heat the remaining oil in another pan and add mustard seed. Once it splutters, add dry red chilli. Stir for a minute.
  5. Add ginger and garlic paste along with the onion. Stir fry till it turns slightly brown.
  6. Now add the mustard paste, red chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder
  7. Add some water to make a little gravy and bring it to boil. Add the fish pieces, season with salt and cook until fish is done.
  8. Garnish with green chillies and serve hot.
