Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Rice Flour 2 cups
  2. White lentils or urad dal 1 cup
  3. Cooked rice a small cup
  4. Salt 1 tsp
  5. Coconut chutney to serve.
  6. Green and saffron food colours
  7. Chocolate sprinklers a few

Instructions

  1. Soak rice and dal separately for 5 hours.
  2. Grind them separately.
  3. Grind the dal with minimal water.
  4. Add the cooked rice and salt to this and leave to ferment overnight.
  5. Grease the idli moulds
  6. Divide the batter into 3 parts.
  7. Pour the idli batter as it is for the white colour
  8. For the green colour, add green food colour to the second part.
  9. For the saffron, add the required colour too.
  10. Serve them hot with coconut chutney.
  11. For the tricolour chutneys, do the same as for the idlis.
  12. Cut these idlis and arrange them on skewers.
  13. For the Ashoka Chakra, i used chocolate sprinklers.

Love the fact you have not used food colors... it looks amazing
