Different taste, gave a twist to the taste of the regular Modak, inspired by rosy sweets.

Rice flour – 1 cup (covering)
Ghee – 1 tablespoon
Salt – a pinch
Rose syrup - 1tsp
For filling - 1/2 cup grated jaggery
Chopped nuts with raisins - 3/4 cup
Coconut grated fresh - 1cup
To decorate – silver balls and fresh rose petals
Instructions
For covering - Put 1 cup of water along with 1 small spoon ghee in a pan and heat it
When the water is about to boil, mix the rice flour and salt in the water. Add rose syrup.
Turn off the burner and leave the pan covered for 5 minutes. Keep little water in a small bowl and little ghee in another small bowl.
Knead the dough with hands greased with water and ghee till the dough becomes soft. Cover with a clean cloth and keep aside.
Put the jaggery and coconut in a frying pan for heating.
Stir and cook till the jaggery and coconut are properly mixed and turn into a thick mixture. Mix with cardamom powder & nuts .
Cool, the filling for modak's is ready.
How to mould - Grease modak mould (inside portion) with a little oil/ghee.
Take a lemon size portion of the dough from the prepared rice dough mixture.
Take the ball and flatten it with your fingers or on your palms, to a round disc or a shallow bowl shape. you can apply ghee/oil in your palms, while flattening.
Place the modak filling in the center. press the edges, you can also press the edges first and then add the filling.
Bring together all the edges and join them. remove the extra portion of the dough from the top, if any. shape and taper the top of the modak with your fingers.
How to steam - In a flat bowl (or in a steamer bowl) grease 1 teaspoon oil. Arrange modaks carefully and steam in a steamer/rice cooker or pressure cooker for 8-10 minutes on medium heat or until done and soft.
Decorate with silver balls and fresh rose petals .
