ABOUT Rajma Masala (Without Onion Garlic) RECIPE

Rajma is the most loved bean curry across the globe. People relish Rajma Rice a lot. There are many versions of it. I am making this curry with a twist. I am not addding onion-garlic to it. You can say it is Jain friendly recipe.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup Red Kidney Beans
  2. 1 Tsp Salt
  3. 2 Tbsp Clarified Butter(Ghee)
  4. 1 Tsp Cumin
  5. 1/4 Tsp Cinnamon Powder
  6. 1/4 tsp Asafetida
  7. 1 cup Tomato Puree
  8. 1 Tbsp Ginger paste
  9. 11/2 Tsp Kashmiri Chilli powder
  10. 1 Tbsp coriander powder
  11. 1 Tsp Garam Masala
  12. 1 Tsp Cumin Powder
  13. 2 Tbsp Cream
  14. 1/4 cup chopped Coriander
  15. 1 Tbsp Lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Soak the kidney beans (Rajma) for 5 hours. After 5 hours, pressure cook it. You can add salt while cooking the Beans.
  2. Meanwhile, for masala, heat Ghee in a heavy bottomed pan.
  3. Add cumin, once it splutters add asafoetida and ginger paste. Saute it for a minute. On a medium flame.
  4. Time to add the tomato puree. Make sure heat is low. Cook the tomato paste till it gets reduced and ghee separates from the edges.
  5. Add in all the dry spice masala powder one by one. (Red chilli powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and garam masala). Saute it.
  6. Now add the cooked Rajma to the masala. Stir in well. Add water according to the consistency required.
  7. Boil the curry on high flame.
  8. Lastly, add freshly chopped coriander and cream.
  9. Give it a nice mix. Simmer it for 5 minutes on a high flame.
  10. Rajma Masala is ready. Serve it with hot steamed rice and some fresh salad.
  11. This is one of the best and healthiest options for lunch box.
