Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 3 1/2 cup flour
  2. 3 cup sugar
  3. 1 cup semolina
  4. 1 cup yogurt
  5. 1/2 cup melted butter
  6. 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  7. 2 tsp vanilla extract
  8. 2 tsp baking powder
  9. 20 to 25 almonds
  10. 1/2 lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Transfer sugar in to a pan. Add 3 cups of water and bring it to a boil. Add lemon juice. Keep aside.
  2. Take melted butter in a big bowl. Add vegetable oil, yogurt and semolina.
  3. Add the vanilla and baking powder start with adding the flour slowly stir it. Make sure it is mixed well. Cover the dough with plastic wrap and put the bowl in a warm place for 15 minutes.
  4. Meanwhile prepare the almonds. Pour hot water on the almonds and keep for 1 minutes. Now you peel the almonds.
  5. Cut the dough into 4 equal pieces and roll them using a rolling pin. Keep rolling until the dough is very thin. With a cookie cutter or an upside down water glass, cut out circles in the dough.
  6. Take one circle, put the second one on it overlapping 1/4 portion of the first one. Put the third one in the same way on the second one and similarly.
  7. Place the rose flower on a greased baking tray. Cut portion will be at the bottom. Place an almond in the middle of the each rose.
  8. Pre heat the oven at 180 degree centigrade. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes. Until you can see the tops are brown.
  9. When the syrup and pastries cool down, pour the syrup on top. Keep for 30 minutes, the rose will absorb the syrup.
