It's a Mangalorian sweet dish made in all occasions. This is my favorite comfort dish I make it anytime and it's sweet and I love the aroma of it

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1/4 kg yellow moong dal
  2. Water 3-4 cups
  3. 1/4 kg jaggery
  4. 5-6 cardamom (elaichi) powdered
  5. 15 gms khismis
  6. 25 gms cashew nuts
  7. 15 gms badam
  8. 1/4 cup raw rice (surati)
  9. 1 large coconut grated
  10. 1/4 kg sabudana
  11. a pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Extract thick and thin milk from grated coconut. It should be 1 1/2 cup of thick milk and 2 cups of thin milk. Keep it aside
  2. Soak the rice for 15 mins after that grind to a thin paste by adding in 1/4 cup of water
  3. Take a wok wash the moong dal and put water 3-4 cups and keep it boil. Add salt in it
  4. Cut the jaggery in small pieces and keep it aside
  5. Once the dal is cooked wash and add the sabudana in it
  6. Now add the cut jaggery in and keep stirring in it for 5 mins all the jaggery will dissolved
  7. Add in thick coconut milk and stir in for 5 mins after that add in thin coconut milk and keep stirring it for more 5 mins
  8. Now add the rice paste and stir it and do not stop stirring as it would get burnt at the bottom
  9. Now add cardamom powdered. You will notice the mixture is thickened now slow down the flame and keep stirring to avoid sticking it in the bottom
  10. After sometime you will notice that sabudana is also cooked it's time to add badam, khismis and cashewnut stir in for 5 mins and then off the flame
  11. Delicious Voron/ Paysam is ready to be served hot
