ABOUT Oats Idli RECIPE

Learn how to make delicious and healthy Instant Oats Idli. Oats idli is a nutritious healthy breakfast for all those who love South Indian breakfast but don’t want to consume extra calories. Everybody is aware of the health benefits of oats but not everyone enjoys a bowl of oatmeal for their breakfast. So this recipe is a perfect fix for that healthy yet delicious breakfast. This recipe is easy to make and the added veggies increase the health quotient and keep you satiated for long.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1 cup plain oats
  2. 1 tbsp oil
  3. 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
  4. 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  5. 1/2 tsp urad dal
  6. 1/2 tsp channa dal
  7. 1/2 cup carrot (grated)
  8. 1/2 cup rava (semolina)
  9. 1 tsp salt
  10. 1 cup curd
  11. 1 tsp coriander leaves (chopped)
  12. 1 tsp eno (fruit salt)

Instructions

  1. Dry roast oats until they turn crisp and let them cool.
  2. Blend roasted oats to a coarse powder once they cool.
  3. Heat a pan and add 2 tsp oil, mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, channa dal to it.
  4. Give it a stir and let the seeds crackle.
  5. Now add grated carrot and sauté for a minute.
  6. Add rava (semolina) once carrot is translucent.
  7. Roast until rava turns fragrant and let it cool!
  8. Remove rava mixture in a deep bowl and add roasted oats powder, about 1 tsp salt, curd and mix well.
  9. Now add about 1 cup water in intervals to make a smooth batter. Add chopped coriander leaves and keep batter to soak for 10 minutes.
  10. Add eno (fruit salt) right before making idlis and mix till batter turns frothy.
  11. Grease the idli moulds with oil and add about 1½ tbsp batter.
  12. Heat the water in a steamer and steam idlis for approximate 20 minutes.
  13. Use a toothpick to check if idli cooked or not
