A delicious spongy sweet prepared instantly with regular kitchen ingredients . Easy to make , yummy to relish .

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Fine semolina / Sooji 1 cup equals 120 ml
  2. Whole milk 2 cups
  3. Ghee 3 tablespoons
  4. Powdered brown sugar 1 cup
  5. Milk Powder 2 tablespoons
  6. Yellow food colour 2 drops
  7. For Sugar Syrup :
  8. Brown sugar 1 cup
  9. Water 2 cups
  10. Green Cardamom pods 4
  11. Rose water 1 teaspoon
  12. Other Ingredients:
  13. Pistachios chopped 2 tablespoons
  14. Desiccated coconut 2 tablespoons

Instructions

  1. Boil 2 cups milk in a wide pan .
  2. Add 1 teaspoon ghee when the milk starts boiling . Stir .
  3. Add 5 tablespoons powdered Brown sugar and stir until sugar dissolves completely in milk .
  4. Start adding fine Sooji / semolina gradually to the hot milk while mixing to form a lump free mixture .
  5. Add a tablespoon ghee when milk is drained completely .
  6. Add food colour .
  7. Stir to form a nonsticky single mass dough .
  8. Switch off the flame .
  9. Allow the dough to cool .
  10. Knead the cooled dough. Add 2 tablespoons milk powder and knead again to a smooth roti dough consistency .
  11. Sprinkle powdered sugar and knead again .
  12. Meantime , prepare sugar syrup . Boil sugar syrup for 5 minutes till sugar dissolves and becomes little sticky .
  13. Coming to the dough , grease your palms with ghee .
  14. Take a small portion and shape it into long ovals within your palms .
  15. Likewise shape other ovals and place it on a tray .
  16. Once all done , drop the ovals ( chum chums ) into the boiling sugar syrup .
  17. Allow the chum chums to be in for 2 minutes .
  18. Toss gently and take out the chums chums from the heat after 2 to 3 minutes .
  19. Roll the chum chums on desiccated coconut . This step is optional . Garnish with chopped pistachios .
  20. Serve and relish .
